GUILT WORRY STRIFE DEPRESSION

Guilt can make us sick, be it REAL or IMAGINED. Joshua 7:21 Achan said, "When I SAW among the spoils an attractive mantle from Shinar (Babylon), and two hundred shekels of silver, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels. I COVETED them and TOOK them. BEHOLD, THEY ARE HIDDEN in the earth inside my tent, with the silver underneath." Considering that the devil's methods haven't changed a great deal since re-creation week, one would think that we would catch on to him. He is still using our eyes to get us in trouble. See, covet, and take, worked with Eve and is still working with her sons and daughters. More people are being convicted of the crime of shoplifting than ever before. The shoplifter or thief usually hides the evidence of their sin as long as they can. The guilt frequently shows up in the form of sick bodies. Just ask the family of anyone who has been sent to jail, they will tell you that hidden sin eventually is made manifest; and that it managed to swallow up the whole family. Achan had sinned. Then he tried to hide or bury his sin. He had real guilt. That guilt eventually resulted in death. Trying to hide a sin instead of confessing it and being forgiven will get between us and the blessing of health.
In the New Testament we have the wonderful provision of 1 John 1:9.
"If we freely admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is
faithful and just (true to His nature and promises) and will forgive our
sins (dismiss our lawlessness) and continuously cleanse us from all
unrighteousness... everything not in conformity to His will, in purpose,
thought and action." If we have guilt because of un-confessed sin in
our lives, we need to limp into 1 John 1:9 receive forgiveness and
leap out into guiltlessness. If our sin was a breaking of man's law,
there will be man's penalty to be paid, but God forgives and forgets. |

Guilt that comes because of on going rebellion against God, is self explanatory. When we know adultery, (or any other sin) is wrong and we continue in that sin, we cut out our protection from The Lord and leave ourselves as fair game to the devil, open to EVERY sort of sickness. The third enemy of health is: Worry |
